Amaris did a wonderful job preparing us for a natural childbirth experience. We had previously had a very complicated delivery and I was somewhat nervous about the upcoming labor, especially handling the pain without medical intervention. She was flexible in scheduling a time to come to our home and asked me ahead of time what our specific needs and concerns were. When she arrived she taught us about the birthing process and various ways to help us through natural childbirth. It was very hands on and we were able to try out many of the techniques that she introduced. To further facilitate learning, she provided us with printed materials recapping the information she presented. The dialogue between us seemed very natural. She was easy to talk to and very open about what could be uncomfortable topics for some. I felt she was thorough in answering our questions. Afterward, my husband shared that the class exceeded his expectations and he felt the new information alleviated his anxiety about his role in assisting me in a natural childbirth. I would definitely recommend Amaris to anyone looking for a doula or childbirth education!

Our choice to hire Amaris as our doula was the best decision we made during pregnancy. Being a first time mom, I had no idea what to expect. Amaris was there for me throughout the entire process answering all my questions and providing many helpful resources. She helped us create our birth plan while educating us on all of our options, showed us techniques for managing labor pain, and provided us with wonderful follow up support after our son was born. She made herself available whenever I had questions or concerns and was great with providing additional information and resources to support her answers.

During labor, her help proved to be invaluable. She was a great calming presence and helped me achieve a natural labor by providing emotional and physical support for both myself and my husband. My husband was able to remain calm and focus on helping me relax because she was there supporting him too. Throughout the labor and birthing process, Amaris reminded me of my birth plan wishes, offered calming remedies, helped me keep a level head, and provided on-the-spot evidenced based information when I wasn’t sure which decisions to make. I don’t know what we would have done without her!

The class was very beneficial for me. I felt more confident and comfortable with my role in supporting my wife during the birthing process. Amaris was very easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable asking any question. I appreciated the hands on training and the different ideas she presented for coping with pain during childbirth.
